In general we say the bigger the hoop, the easier!
When you stand in front of a hoop and hold it to your body, the hoop should come somewhere between the belly button and the chest (nipple) area.
The larger the body frame, the larger the hoop. Hooping is for EVERYONE. No matter how big or small...you CAN do it!
For example if you are 5ft 6in your hoop would need to be about 40 inches in diameter on the small (thin build) side and about 47 inches on the larger side(medium to large build).
If you are 6ft tall with a medium build your hoop could be about 45 inches diameter on the small side and so on. Your hoop teacher will help you find the best hoop that works for you. Remember EVERY BODY is different and EVERYBODY can hoop!
